Configure Your Wireless Laptop
Wireless Network Configuration Instructions for Window XP Professional:
Click Start on the windows task bar.
Click Control Panel on the right hand side of the Start Menu.
Click Network and Internet Connections.
Click Network Connections
Right Click on the icon for your Wireless Network Connection and choose Properties
At the top of this window are three tabs, the center tab should be "Wireless Networks." Click on this tab.
On the lower half of this Wireless Network Connection Properties window should be a section which says Preferred networks. In this area is a white text box and a button which reads "Add…". Click Add.
In the wireless network properties window, please enter the Network name (SSID): as "EDUWIFI".
Uncheck the box that reads "The key is provided for me automatically".
Call into the helpdesk at 282-HELP to obtain the WEP key.
In the white textbox that reads "Confirm network key:" retype the provided code.
Please press "OK"
Now click "Advanced" in the lower right hand corner of the window.
Please click the middle button which reads "Access point (infrastructure) networks only".
Click "Close"
Click "OK"
