Wireless Card for Windows 9x/ME/2000


  1. Download the Client Utility from the Help Desk Toolkit website
  2. UnZip the files
  3. Insert the Orinoco card into the computer.
  4. The Add new hardware wizard will come up.
  5. Click Next to continue with the Hardware install.
  6. Make sure the button next to Search for the best driver is checked and click Next.
  7. Uncheck everything except Specify a Location.
  8. Click Browse and browse to the unzipped files, Client Software\Windows\ (choose the correct operating system) and then PC_card.
  9. Click Ok to continue, and then click Next and Windows should find the drivers.
  10. Click Next when it finds the drivers to continue.
  11. An Add/Edit Configuration box will now appear.
  12. Highlight Default, and click Edit.
  13. Make sure the Profile name is Default, and the Network type is Access point and click Next
  14. Under network name enter the SSID that you were given, and click Next
  15. Check Enable Data Security; check the box next to use Hexadecimal.
  16. Under key 1 enter the WEP key you were given. Make sure Encrypt data with Key1 is selected.
  17. Click Next to Continue.
  18. Under Power Management select OFF.
  19. Uncheck Renew IP address after selecting this profile. and then click Finish.
  20. Click Ok to finish the install, and then restart the computer.
Installing The Client Utility

  1. Browse to the unzipped files under Client Software\Windows\ and run Setup.exe
  2. Click Next to accept the default installation folder.
  3. Click Next to accept the Start Menu folder.
