Wireless Card for Windows 9x/ME/2000


  1. Download the Client Utility from the Help Desk Toolkit website
  2. UnZip the files
  3. Insert the Wireless Card into the computer.
  4. The Add New Hardware wizard will come up.
  5. Select Next to continue. (Make sure the cd is in the drive.)
  6. Make sure Search for best driver is selected and click Next .
  7. Check the Specify a location box, and browse to the downloaded files, and then the correct operating system.
  8. Click next, and the Computer should find the correct driver. Click Next to Accept.
  9. When it is done click Finish to complete the driver setup.
  10. Restart the computer when it prompts you.
  11. In the system tray there should be a new icon that looks like a computer with a red screen (red is not associated, green means associated)
  12. Double click the new icon to open up the client utility. If it says you need a firmware update do the following.
    1. From the download files, run winupdate\setup. This will install the update utility
    2. Double click the winupdate icon on the desktop. Click the Download button on the bottom left of the screen.
    3. Browse the downloaded files in firmware\1.3.4\OEMrelease and then click Open .
    4. Next to the download button, click Update . During this time, do not turn off or unplug the wireless card.
    5. Click the Update button agian, and it should tell you when it is done.
    6. Double click the New Icon in the system tray to open the configuration utility
      • In "Client Utilites" go to the Configuration tab.
      • Under SSID enter the SSID given to you.
      • Click on the Encryption tab
      • Under Encryption(WEP) set it to 64 bit.
      • Make sure the Manual Entry box is checked.  
      • Under key 1 enter the WEP key that you were given.
      • Click Apply, and then Okay to exit the utility.
      • The Icon in the system tray should now go from red to green. (if it doens't after a minute restart the computer.)
