Wireless Card for Windows XP


  1. Download the Client Utility from the Help Desk Toolkit website and browse to Drivers\WinXP
  2. Run wpc11_xp.
  3. The installation will now ask where to put the files. Accept the default, and hit Next.
  4. Hit Finish when it's done installing.
  5. From the downloaded file run Setup.exe
  6. Hit Next to start the install Wizard.
  7. Hit Yes to Accept the copywright.
  8. Hit Next to install the contents to the Default folder.
  9. Make sure infrastructure mode is checked, and hit Next.
  10. For the SSID, change it from Linksys to the SSID given to you.
  11. Hit next to accept the defaults.
  12. Hit yes to restart the computer.
  13. When Windows is back up insert the Wireless Card into the PCMCIA Slot.
  14. The Found new hardware wizard will come up. Check the Install from a list or specific location, and hit Next.
  15. Check the Include this location in the search, and browse to the CD and then the Linksys directory and hit Next.
  16. Check continue anyway even though it is not signatured.
  17. Hit Finish at the completion of installing the drivers.
  18. Click Start|Control Panel, then Network Connections.
  19. Right click the Local Area connection with the Netgear card, and go to Properties.
  20. Go to the wireless network tab, and click add.
  21. Under SSID, type the SSID given to you.
  22. Uncheck the box next to this key is provided for me automatically.
  23. Under network key enter the WEP key given to you.
  24. Under Confirm network key, retype the WEP key given to you.
  25. Hit Ok, and then Ok to exit out of everything.
  26. The Icon in the system tray should now go from red to green. (if it doesn't after a minute, restart the computer.)
