Wireless Card for Windows XP

Install the Cisco Wireless Client Utilities:
- Download the Cisco Client Utitlity
- Unzip the file
- Open the ACU folder
- Run the setup.exe file
- Click on [Next].
- Ensure that None is selected for Server Based Authentication and click on [Next].
- Ensure that the following client utilities are checked:
- Aironet Client Utility
- Link Status Meter
- Client Encryption Manager
- Click on [Next] after selecting utilities.
- Click on [Next] to select the folder name Cisco Aironet.
- Make sure both boxes are NOT checked, then click on [Finish].
Install the wireless card:
- Click on the Start button..
- Click on Control Panel.
- Click on the Network Connections Icon.
- INSERT the wireless card into the computer.
- A new icon should appear.
- Right-Click on this new icon (move the mouse pointer over this new icon and click the right mouse button)
- Select rename.
- Rename the card Cisco Wireless
- Press [Enter].
- Right-click again on this icon and select [Properties].
- Verify that the Connect Using field shows something similar to the following:
- Cisco Systems 350 Series PCMCIA Wireless LAN Adapter.
- Make sure the following network components are installed:
- Client for Microsoft Networks
- Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
- If Client for Microsoft Networks has not been installed:
- Select [Install] Client | [Add] | Client for Microsoft Networks | [OK]
- (select No if prompted to reboot)
- If Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) has not been installed:
- Select [Install] Protocol | [Add] | Microsoft | TCP/IP | [OK]
- (select No if prompted to reboot)
- Click [Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)] to highlight and then Click on [Properties].
- Obtain an IP address automatically must be checked.
- Obtain DNS server address automatically must be checked.
- Click on [OK] to accept changes.
- Click on the Wireless Networks Tab
- Uncheck the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings box.
- Click on [OK] to exit.
Configure the wireless card:
- From the Start Menu, select Cisco Systems | Aironet Client Utility (ACU).
- Select Commands | Edit Properties.
- Click on Profile Manager
- Click on add
- Enter ISU in the Box
- Hit Okay
- Under Client name type your email username
- Under SSID1: Enter the SSID you were given
- Power Save Mode: Constantly Awake Mode
- Network Type: Infrastructure.
- Select the Network Security tab and set the following values:
- WEP: Use Static WEP keys
- WEP key enter method: Hexidecimal.
- Access Point Authentication: Open Authentication
- WEP Key 1:
- Enter the WEP key you were given
- Click on [OK] to save these changes.
- Click on [Apply] to exit the WEP Key Write Complete screen.
- Click on [OK] to save and exit
- Select Commands | Exit to exit the Aironet Client Utility
Reboot your computer.
