FileZilla
Installation and Configuration


 

Note:You need to install FileZilla, then configure it for ISU.

Install FileZilla:

    1. Click on Install FileZilla from the moresoftware menu
    2. Select I agree in the Licence Agreement

    3. Select NEXT in the Choose Components window for a default installation

    4. Select NEXT choose the default installation location

    5.Select NEXT to name the start menu folder

    6.Select INSTALL to begin installation

    7. Select Close to complete installation

Configure FileZilla:

  1. Once FileZilla is installed, open it.
    • Click FILE in the top left corner of the program
    • Select SITE MANAGER

  2. In the SITE MANAGER window
    • Click NEW SITE
    • NEW SITE name = ISU
    • Host = cwis.isu.edu
    • Servertype = FTP
    • Logontype Type = Normal
    • User = (your ISU username)

    • Click "Save and Exit"

  3. Login.
    • Type your cwis password into the pop-up password box.
    • Click the OK button.

Navigating the FileZilla interface:

Left side:

  1. The files of the computer you are sitting at appear on the left side under Local Site
  2. You may navigate up and down directory by clicking on the drive letters at the bottom of the screen folder or click on the green arrow to go up one level.

Right side:

  1. The files of your destination folder (CWIS or Y" drive) appear on the right side under Remote Site.
  2. You may navigate up and down directory by clicking on the drive letters at the bottom of the screen folder or click on the green arrow to go up one level.

Transferring files:

  1. Select the file you wish to transfer by highlighting it.
  2. Upload: Click the file you wish to upload from the local site and drag it to the remote site
  3. Download: Click the file you wish to download from the remote site and drag it to the local site
